“I see the Opportunity to Creatively Love
through the challenges of Alzheimer’s Disease”
I am a Registered Nurse & daughter of my Mum who is living with Alzheimer’s Disease in a care home.
I have a unique perspective as a Nursing Instructor, helping students navigate their patient relationships. As a mother, daughter, wife, & sibling, I explain medical jargon, health care processes, & when to seek better answers.
I have witnessed people visiting their parents & sometimes at a loss of what to say & do. People have even discouraged me from visiting often, saying, “She has Alzheimer’s so she won’t even remember you were there.”
My goal is not that Mum remembers I was there, but for her to feel better because of our time together.
Thinking more creatively with Mum has helped our visits to be happier & less frustrating. And simultaneously - this infusion of creativity has also expanded my photographic endeavours, leading to portraiture of Mum & myself.
“Creative Loving” is a sharing of stories & images, inspired by my desire to help others in any way possible to keep visiting & connecting with their Loved Ones.
